Katie Pelz-Davis isn’t known for sitting around waiting for others to act. She steps in and steps up. After receiving her MSW at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, she cofounded Family Therapy Associates of Ann Arbor in 1980. When she recognized the overwhelming wave that engulfs a family dealing with a cancer diagnosis, she founded the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor. Besides helping community members, Katie has been sharing her insights and expertise through her teaching at the University of Michigan School of Social Work since 1997.
We all hit obstacles in our lives – some of our own making and some beyond our control. All of us deserve the dignity and support to deal with those obstacles and not to let those obstacles define us – especially people who faced an uphill battle when they were kids.
